There are over 400K foster children in the U.S. alone and each one needs an advocate in the foster system -- but many don't get one. Jessica Holt, our guest this episode, is an elementary school teacher and also an approved foster parent. After spending most of her 20s working in jobs that didn't feel particularly meaningful, Jessica decided to listen to her inner voice to do her part in helping the over 400K foster children in the U.S. And she did that by being a volunteer for CASA, a Court Appointed Special Advocate for kids in the foster system.
Listen to this fascinating episode to learn about the inside world of the foster system, why foster kids need a CASA in addition to a foster parent, and the steps be a foster parent. Hear Jessica's bittersweet yet life changing story as a CASA volunteer and her journey in becoming a work in purpose.
